Lucy & Jacob's Moody, Rain-Soaked May Elopement in Glencoe
May in the Highlands can deliver anything from bright sunshine to relentless rain, and for Lucy and Jacob’s wedding, the weather went full Scottish. Heavy clouds hung low over the ridges and the rain barely stopped all day, but they were absolute troopers and didn’t let getting soaked take away from their celebration.
They brought along a small group of seven close family and friends to share the day with them. Working as a Glencoe photographer in conditions like these is all about embracing the atmosphere rather than fighting it. The low mist and heavy downpours made the glen look incredible, creating a dark, dramatic backdrop for their outdoor ceremony, which was conducted beautifully by Humanist Celebrant Alison Stewart.
After they made things official with their guests looking on under umbrellas, the three of us took a slow wander for some candid portraits. As a Glencoe photographer, I always aim to keep sessions relaxed and unforced, and Lucy and Jacob made that dead easy by simply leaning into the elements and enjoying the moment.
