Scottish Highland Adventures at a Stormy Loch Coruisk Wedding
Every wedding we photograph on the Isle of Skye is an adventure, but every so often a wedding comes along which can only come under the category ‘Epic Adventure’. Clare and Douglas’s Loch Coruisk wedding on the Isle of Skye definitely fell under this category and it was utterly amazing!
On the morning of their elopement wedding the forecast was looking pretty wet and stormy and Clare and Douglas toyed with the idea of having their ceremony at their gorgeous accommodation Stone Cottage, but celebrant Sonja Eckl-Riel convinced them to go for their Loch Coruisk wedding ceremony, and it was totally worth it! Catching what turned out to be the last sailing for that day the ceremony was held on the Misty Isles Boat itself providing some shelter from the dramatic weather. We then disembarked as the boat took some other passengers to the mainland. Heading over to the bothy situated at the Loch we were surprised to bump in to a film crew also taking a moments shelter, who were equally surprised to bump into a bride and groom! This seemed like an apt moment for a dram!
Warmed up by the whisky Clare and Douglas ventured out for some photographs in the amazing scenery before catching the boat back to Elgol. And just as we were shooting some photographs at Elgol the clouds broke and some blue sky appeared.
Feeling Inspired?
If you are feeling inspired by Clare and Douglas’s beautiful elopement at Loch Coruisk and would like more information about visiting the Isle of Skye, I would highly recommend the Isle of Skye and Visit Scotland websites. If you plan on making the dream of eloping to Scotland a reality the National Records of Scotland has information about how to go about it officially.
