Natural Wedding Photography for Angela & Douglas's Beautiful Wedding Day
It was so fantastic to photograph this gorgeous House for an Art Lover wedding for so many reasons! Firstly, the bride was my good friend and fellow photographer, Angela, who I have known for over twenty years! Angela and her new husband Douglas are two of the loveliest people and their wedding, which was relaxed and fun, suited them perfectly. Secondly, it was amazing to be back at House for an Art Lover. Coronavirus aside, it has been a while since I have shot wedding photography at this elegant Glasgow institution, I had forgotten just how beautiful it was. Thirdly, it was great to photograph a larger (but still intimate) wedding, after the stand still of the previous year. With restrictions still in place, social distancing and masks were still order of the day but that didn’t spoil a memorable occassion!
The Wedding Day
My photography coverage began at Angela’s home as she finalised her wedding preparations with the aid of her fabulous bridesmaids, Katy and Emma. Second shooter for the day, Emmett, met with Douglas at the football stadium of Partick Thistle Football Club and had some brilliant photos taken with famous mascot, Kingsley, which was amazing fun!
When we arrived at House for an Art Lover for the wedding ceremony, it was a surprise to all the guests to discover that the celebrant for the day was Scottish TV Icon Carol Smillie (now Carol Knight). Carol conducted the Humanist wedding ceremony perfectly, completed with traditional handfasting and drinking whiskey from a wedding quaich.
Angela and Douglas then completed their wedding day celebrating with their closest family and friends. We had such a great time photographing this wedding, Angela and Douglas did an amazing job organising such a special day in difficult circumstances. And it was brilliant catching up with our old photography college buddies!
