Marilou & Maxime's Wet and Wonderful Elopement Wedding
When Marilou and Maxime booked me to be their elopement wedding photographer, the plan was to conduct the ceremony in the mountains of Glencoe. However the Scottish weather has other plans! It began raining heavily the night before and didn’t stop until the next day. The result was widespread flooding and multiple road closures!Â
On the morning of the wedding I made my way gingerly up the main route to the Highlands from Glasgow, the A82, managing to navigate through the massive puddles without flooding my engine. After a tentative journey, I made it to the meet up location as did the piper, The Munro Bagpiper, the celebrant, and Gabrielle, the wedding Planner. Unfortunately Marilou, Maxime and their small wedding party were not having such luck and were stopped by flooding at every turn on their journey from Dunkeld and didn’t quite make it.
Not to worry though, we were determined to make this wedding happen! We jumped back into our cars and met them half way for a quick legal signing of the paperwork. We then headed back to Dunkeld to hold a ceremonial wedding at the pretty Beatrix Potter Garden. This was followed by photographs at the magical Hermitage, with its atmospheric woodland and thundering waterfall.
Marilou and Maxime’s wedding might not have worked out as they planned, but they did have an amazing day full of adventure that they will never forget!
