A Beautiful Coastal Elopement Wedding at Elgol Beach
I’ll never tire of photographing elopement weddings at the small hamlet of Elgol on the Isle of Skye. Whether it’s catching the Misty Isles boat to Loch Coruisk or photographing on the beautiful and dramatic rocky beach. It is true to say that Elgol is home to some stunning scenery. With breathtaking mountains, wild seas, rugged coastline, and wildlife in abundance. You can’t get a more magnificent backdrop for creating unique and unforgettable wedding memories. Elgol has proved time and time again that it is many couples favourite place to elope.
The Wedding Day
It was fantastic to make the scenic journey from Glasgow through the Scottish Highlands this June. I was travelling to Skye to be the photographer at Rebecca and Murray’s gorgeous elopement wedding this June. Choosing Elgol beach for their ceremony and travelling from Australia to marry with just Murray’s Aunt and Uncle in attendance.
I met Murray and Rebecca at their accommodation on Skye to begin my wedding photography coverage. We then made the journey to Elgol for their wedding ceremony at the base of distinctive Honeycomb Rock. To say we made the most of the scenery at Elgol would be an understatement! It was amazing to photograph in such surroundings and Rebecca and Murray were so great to work with, it is easy to get carried away!
Once we had finished photographing at Elgol we all then travelled up through Skye to Sligachan at the other side of the Cuillin Mountains. With an ancient bridge, winding river and lush green landscape, Sligachan is another wonderful spot for some great wedding photographs. After we finished at Sligachan it was time for Rebecca and Murray to head off and celebrate their wedding with their family. It was so great to photograph their wedding; it was an amazing day and I wish them all the best for the future!
If you are feeling inspired by Rebecca and Murray’s beautiful elopement in the Scottish Highlands and would like more information about visiting the Isle of Skye, I would highly recommend the Isle of Skye and Visit Scotland websites. If you plan on making the dream of eloping to Scotland a reality the National Records of Scotland has information about how to go about it officially.
