A Wild & Remote Wedding at Ancient Dun Beag Broch
I first encountered Dun Beag Broch last November when I travelled to the Isle of Skye to photograph Niko and Crawford’s stunning elopement wedding. When I arrived at the broch site the beauty of the area took my breath away. The surrounding landscape is a perfect example of the beautiful scenery of the Scottish Highlands and Islands. So, it was with great delight that I had the opportunity to travel again to this amazing part of Scotland to photograph Whitney and Ross’s gorgeous elopement wedding, this time in the spring month of April. The weather in Skye at this time of year can be unpredictable to say the least but it has to be said that the island always looks amazing whatever the weather.
The Wedding Day
Whitney and Ross were looking for shorter photographic coverage of their wedding day, so I met them at Dun Beag Broch just prior to the ceremony on a blustery, showery day. Whitney and Ross were so amazing and did not let the changeable conditions get in the way of their lovely traditional Scottish handfast ceremony, conducted on the walls of the 2000-year-old broch. After the ceremony, we made the most of the dramatic broch surroundings before making our way to Skye’s largest town, Portree. When we arrived at the pretty harbour town with its multi-coloured buildings we made our way to the shelter of its natural stony beach and took in the gorgeous views to the East of the Island. As late afternoon approached it was time to say cheerio to Whitney and Ross and allow them to enjoy the rest of their wedding day together. I packed up my camera gear and hit the road back to Glasgow!
