I’m Andrew, a Glencoe elopement photographer based down in Glasgow. I’ve spent years travelling up and down the A82 to photograph intimate weddings and elopements right across Glencoe and Glen Etive. My approach is simple: no staging, no awkward posing, and no stiff, forced routines. Just down to earth, relaxed photography that lets you focus on enjoying your day while I capture it as it naturally unfolds.
Why Elope in Glencoe?
There’s a reason people travel from all over the world to say their vows here, but it’s also one of the most practical places in Scotland for a wild wedding.
The Landscape & Atmosphere
Glencoe has a weight to it that you feel the moment you drive through the pass. Towering peaks like the Three Sisters, wide open glens, and quiet spots hidden away off the beaten track. Whether you want to say your vows high on a ridge, down by the water in Glen Etive, or tucked under the canopy at Glencoe Lochan, the backdrop does all the heavy lifting. The atmosphere changes by the minute—from quiet and brooding to bright and sweeping—giving your ceremony a backdrop like nowhere else.
Easy Access from Central Scotland
Unlike heading right out to the islands or up to the far north coast, Glencoe is surprisingly straightforward to reach. It’s roughly a two-hour drive from Glasgow and just over two and a half hours from Edinburgh. You can easily fly into either city, rent a car, and be standing in the heart of the Highlands by early afternoon. It gives you the full, rugged Highland experience without needing days of travel just to get there.
I am Experienced in Every Kind of Scottish Weather
If you’re planning an outdoor wedding in the Scottish Highlands, you have to embrace the weather. I’ve shot elopements in Glencoe under cracking blue skies in March, through heavy rain soaked through in May, and under low, quiet autumn clouds in October.
- In the Rain: When the weather turns full Scottish—you don’t panic. The low mist hanging off the ridges and rain-soaked rock faces give the glen a dark, moody feel that looks brilliant on camera. You just pop the umbrellas, lace up your boots, and roll with it.
- In the Quiet Calm: On calmer, overcast days—the light is soft and even. We can take a slow drive down Glen Etive, stop along the river, and take photos without any rush or pressure.
- In the Bright Sun: Even when the sun makes a rare appearance, the deep shadows and massive scale of the ridges make every angle stand out.
Knowing the area well means that no matter what the weather throws at us on the day, I know where to take you to get shelter, where the light will look best, and how to keep things moving comfortably so you aren’t standing around shivering.
A Relaxed, No-Fuss Approach
An elopement shouldn’t feel like a endless photo shoot. My job isn’t to direct your day or make you stand in unnatural poses for hours (but if you want add your own personality and throw some shapes, I’m all for that!).
Whether it’s just the two of you handfasting by a stream, or you’re bringing a handful of close family along under a couple of golf umbrellas, I keep things low-key. We’ll go for a slow walk, take in the views, and let you enjoy the moment while I record the real story of your day as it happens.
