Magalie & Laurent's Windswept and Beautiful Elie Elopement, Fife, Scotland
I had such a great time capturing the photographs of Magalie and Laurent’s beautiful Scottish elopement wedding at the end of April. Choosing the stunning coastal setting of Lady Janes Anstruther Tower in the picturesque village of Elie, Fife, this windswept location made a dramatic backdrop for their traditional Scottish handfasting ceremony.
Magalie and Laurent had made the journey from France to have their elopement wedding on the East Coast of Scotland. Opting for shorter coverage I met up with Magalie and Laurent and their close friends, who were acting as witnesses, just before the ceremony began. The couple began proceeding by being piped to the ceremony location by excellent piper Grant McLeod, the Munro Bagpiper. With a chilly evening coastal wind in the air Humanist celebrant Alan Barr conducted the wonderful handfasting ceremony in the shelter of the tower itself. Once hands had been bound and whisky supped, we made our way to the beach to make the most of the lovely surroundings of the Fife coast and the pretty village of Elie.
