Faity-tale Scottish Handfasting Ceremony on the Isle of Skye
Sarah and Daniels elopement wedding last September was our second last trip of 2017 to the magnificent Isle of Skye. We really love this time of year as the warm autumn colours cover the landscape. Sarah and Daniel traveled across the globe from Tasmania in Australia to hold their Scottish handfasting ceremony in the Highlands of Scotland.
We arrived at Sarah and Daniels gorgeous little cottage, Tigh Phoil, on the morning of their wedding day to capture their final preps before venturing out to meet celebrant, Sonja Eckl-Riel of Heart and Soul Ceremonies. Originally planning to hold the ceremony at Loch Coruisk, these plans were blown away by high winds forcing the boats trip to be cancelled. Fortunately, Skye is an Island of many beautiful locations and Sonja took us to a favourite secret spot (no, we’re not telling!) to conduct the ceremony. I think there may have been faeries watching in this tranquil wooded grove.
Once the ceremony was complete we took a trip to Dunscaith Castle and it’s beautiful surrounds for some photography before leaving Sarah and Daniel to spend their first moments together as husband and wife.
Heading down the road to Glasgow we were delighted to have been involved with another amazing day.
